Where are Max and Ruby's Parents?
Reia has officially traded in Hi-5 and The Magic School Bus for Lazytown and Max and Ruby. What I want to know is where are the parents for all of these characters?
Max and Ruby's grandmother, bunnyscout leader and a handful of other adults show up, but never mom and dad. (For all the episodes I have seen anyway.) The same seems to hold true for Lazytown. The mayor, Ms. Busybody, Sportacus and Robbie Rotten are the only adults around town. And, I don't know if Robbie Rotten is supposed to be a real adult.
So, there is my quirky question of the day.
P.S. I have realized I somehow double posted my blogging mommies question. Since people have commented on both, I won't delete. But, I'm still not sure how that happened.

OK, so I was curious so I checked out the Nick Jr. website.
Here's what Rosemary Wells, said the reason was for not having parents appear on Max and Ruby:
"As in most other classic stories, we don't see Max and Ruby's parents, because I believe that kids resolve their issues and conflicts differently when they are on their own."
Max and Ruby are based on her own children and the point of the series is to show positive conflict resolution.
The creator of Lazy Town, Magnus Scheving, does not give any clues as to why he left parent characters out of the show, but parents can watch a video that will teach them how to do Sporticus's signature move. Ok, so the last part wasn't very helpful, but I thought it was kind of cool. I might try to learn a new move this weekend! ;-)
I just realized that Magnus Sheving, the creator, is Sporticus! OK, that's just weird.
Thanks for doing all of the research for me. Ok, and the Magnus being Sporticus--is a little odd. But he is the most in shape kid tv super hero on, as far as I can tell, right now.
I think it's a pretty good show for kids to watch, but, I always felt guilty when we watched it.
And, you could just say that you double posted on purpose. You were doing a post on Multi-Blogging Moms, so you did a Multi-Post. :P
it is nuts that i know this, but the Mayor is Stephanie's guardian - her uncle - i dont know why she lives with him - my 4 yr. old niece hasn't asked, but love the show and does get up and move ( not that she needs tv to encourage that) Lazytown is our favorite to watch together.
Magnus was a fitness competitor before he started his production company - i am suprised we haven't seen more US marketing
Embarassed to say that although my child is only 5 months old i HAVE watched an episode of this all the way through. (Don't ask). But anyway, I hadn't thought about the fact there aren't many adults. Of course, what observation could I make in only wathcing it once??

My question is why in the world do Dora's parents and grandparents let her wander all over God's green earth across crocodile lake and other scary places??? WHERE IS THE SUPERVISION THERE???
I've never thought about Max and Ruby's parents, but she's got to get her bossiness somewhere!
Ugh! The fact that I have to watch them is enough. Do you hate those shows as much as I do? The only fun part is when they sing in LazyTown and my kids dance. That always cracks me up.
You know, I always thought that perhaps since so many kids only have one parent at home they use grandparents instead. Oobi is the same way.
And grandparents are less political. I mean if you have a mom in the story, does she work? What if she does? That will offend someone. If she doesn't, that will offend someone else. I think the real reason is that they are trying to avoid the hassle.
Grandparent can do anything.

Okay...call me nutty but why does it matter that Sporticus is also the creator? Shows that he is as fit as he tries to get other kids to become...He has won NUMEROUS awards for aerobics throughout the 90s and continues to promote the importance of health and exercise to kids.
Felicia, it doesn't matter actually. I thought it was so interesting and it all made sense once I connected the dots, so to speak. No worries, Lazytown is still one of our favorite shows!
